Transformational Coaching for Schools

Do you want to experience significant professional growth?

Our Transformational Coaching strategy can help you achieve that!

Global Partners for Education works with schools to see long-term transformation. This does not happen during a one-time seminar. Our approach involves careful observation of teachers in their classrooms while allowing teachers to define their own development needs. As the coaching relationship develops, teachers may request demonstration lessons conducted by the coach in the teacher’s classroom or work on identifying appropriate teaching resources.

This year-long process requires the commitment of at least five teachers at a school or learning center and an agreement with the director or principal.

Elements of Coaching

• Classroom Observations
• Initial Goal-setting Dialogue with teacher
• Demonstration Lessons
• Individualized Feedback
• Department Level & School Level Seminars
• Materials Development
• Curriculum Review & Adjustment

Cost

The cost of our Transformational Coaching process depends on the school’s type, size, and location. It is developed through negotiation with the school administration and our Global Partners for Education Executive Team.

Professional Learning Communities

Situating our Transformational Coaching process within the school allows teachers to work in Professional Learning Communities throughout their development, ensuring that their development has a clear impact on the school environment and student learning.

Madonna and Maddy

Professional Learning Communities allow teachers to pursue development in communities of other professionals with the same interests. They are a testimony to the knowledge that exists within the teacher community.

A PLC comprises “teachers’ joint efforts to generate new knowledge of practice and their mutual support of each other’s professional growth” (McLaughlin & Talbert, 2001, 75). This is one reason why our transformational coaching process happens within the school community. As teachers collaborate and share within a community of practice, insights develop through the diverse perspectives represented.

“Knowledge is situated in the day-to-day experiences of teachers and best understood through critical reflection with others who share the same experiences” (Vescio, Ross & Admas, 2006). Our programs are not just focused on accumulating knowledge. We are concerned with actually transforming the learning environment and, eventually, the community.

Training of Trainers

At Global Partners, we believe in empowering local educators. Toward this goal we coach toward the development of local coaches in each school.
